Day three is a ten-mile trek to Horn Creek, but it’s pretty flat on the Tonto Plateau. This is where we get the big, open views everyone’s been waiting for. Prime Instagram territory if that’s your thing.

You know how a picture is worth a thousand words? The real thing is incalculable. It’s hard to find words to express any of this.

Tonight it’s just our group at this campground, because we’ve snagged the only permit. Dinner is efficient and yummy, and sleep is welcome. That’s a good thing, because tomorrow we gotta get up early.
