Yosemite Falls & Snow Creek Trail: A High-Elevation Workout

Are you looking for an alternative to the more popular, day hiking trails surrounding Yosemite? If so, consider the Yosemite Falls/Snow Creek Trail hike offered by Discovery Treks. On this four-day tour, you’ll leave the day hikers behind as you make your way toward Upper Yosemite Falls Trail and hike to the top of El Capitan.

If you’re curious about some of the highlights on this loop trek, we’ve collected some of the most breathtaking sights and sounds for you below.

Day 1

Begin your trek by visiting one of the tallest waterfalls in the lower 48. On your first day hiking in Yosemite National Park, you’ll have a five-mile hike that brings you to the very top of Yosemite Point, where you’ll be able to camp and have an unmatched view of the star-studded night sky. This is where trekkers on our Yosemite Falls/Snow Creek Trail will call home for the next few days.

Day 2

Your second day in the Yosemite wilderness begins with a hearty, home-cooked breakfast, then a day hike to the top of El Capitan and Eagle Peak. You’ll leave your packs behind at the campsite and only pack the essentials to make scaling up the mountainside easier. After an 11-mile hike along the Yosemite Valley, you’ll be out like a light when your head hits the pillow.

Day 3

Some of the park’s most breathtaking natural wonders are on the agenda for day three, including Yosemite’s famous Indian Rock and the North Dome. From the top of the dome, you’ll be privy to a sprawling view of the surrounding area, including once-in-a-lifetime views of the Half Dome and Clouds Rest. Then continue to reach the Snow Creek Trail and bed down for the evening.

Day 4

On the last day of your adventure, your guide will finish with a descent along Snow Creek Trail to the beginning of the loop. You’ll be back in Yosemite Valley for lunchtime and descending the more than two miles (2,500 feet) will certainly work up an appetite.
