Yosemite Off the Beaten Path: a 3-Day Tour

Have you finally made up your mind to visit Yosemite National Park, one of the United States’ most impressive natural wonders? If so, you might be worried about missing out on some of the most breathtaking sights. But don’t worry, Discovery Treks will make sure you visit as many picturesque landmarks as possible on your tour.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the things you might experience on your three-day tour of Yosemite.

Day 1

Before descending into Yosemite Valley, spending the first day exploring along the Tioga Road is a great way to get acclimated to the landscape and also beat the crowds. From there you can hike to the heart of Yosemite to May Lake and Mount Hoffman. It’s a 6-mile hike around the lake and the mountain is 2,000 feet above sea level, making for quite a trek. But the beautiful vistas offered by both is well worth the workout. If you’re still up for another short hike before the sun sets, take a stroll through the Merced Grove Trail, home to hundreds of larger-than-life sequoias.

Day 2

On your second day, stick to Glacier Point Road and visit Glacier Point for a quick photo opportunity before embarking on the Sentinel Dome/Taft Point trailhead. On this 5-mile loop trail, you’ll be privy to spectacular views once you reach the top of Sentinel Dome, which offers expansive vistas of major landmarks including El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, and the Half Dome. Afterward, it’s time to make your way toward the center of the park. If you’re running low on supplies don’t fret, Yosemite Village has a full-service grocery store so you can stock up before the next hike.

Day 3

On your third day, get an early start and head to the Mist Trail trailhead ASAP to beat the crowds. There you’ll have access to Vernal and Nevada falls. You’ll be able to ascend the trail by hiking up the 600+ step stairway for a breathtaking view at the top of Nevada Falls. From there, it’s just another 900 feet to the top of Vernal Falls. After giving yourself a rest and a pat on the back, you can hike out of the park or take your time walking back along the John Muir Trail.
